Group Shoot with TPA Bay Therapists (Part I)
When I had the pleasure of doing headshots for a few local therapists over the past year or so, I had no idea that each of these therapists was connected in real life, getting together as a group for dinners once a month and supporting each other through the ups and downs of being therapists and business owners…
By the end of 2024, several of the therapists in this group had brought the idea to me that it would be fun to do a group brand shoot, à la Picnics & Portraits or Petals & Portraits — where we get a group together and each person gets 15 minutes in front of the camera. It’s efficient and cost-saving for each person in the group, and I get to bang out several shoots in one afternoon!
All it took was one group thread with all 10 or so of the therapists, a quick Thrive Cart checkout on the backend, a cuuuute rental studio in Tampa, and BANG - we were in business!
I led us through a mindful moment at the beginning to let us work through nerves and bring to mind the energy, vibe and traits each therapist wanted to emphasize in her photos. Once we felt a little more grounded, I brought the energy back up again with an engaging and humorous prompt: — “if you were a tree, what tree would you be!?” (If you’ve been to a Movers & Shakers Networking Brunch, you know I love this prompt, LOL!)
The point of this is to get everyone a little loosey-goosey, a little light-hearted, and to help us learn something new about each other. 10 women in a small studio can be a lot — and being in front of the camera can be a big deal for many. A prompt like this gets us laughing, connecting, and fully dropped in so we can have the BEST shoot possible!
This group shoot was such a dang good time, and the vibes were HIGH. The amount of empathy and warmth in that studio was unmatched…not to mention the swapping of props, outfits, makeup help, and BTS support!
